For Sale by Owner
In the Real Estate business we call them a FSBO (pronounced fizz-bow).
Some home owners like to try to sell their homes by themselves for many reasons. They may have the time, aren't’t in a hurry, feel they are in a hot market, or it’s easy to do and they can save the commission expense.
Some FSBO s do succeed. If you try it we wish you good fortune. Many who try it find it much more challenging than they anticipated. And they find that the Buyers they attract are trying to save the same commission dollars that they hoped to save.
We suggest that if you are so inclined as to try it yourself follow these suggestions:
- Price accurately. Ask a friendly Realtor to help provide comparable sale information with the idea that if you are not successful as a FSBO you will
consider their professional services.
- Make certain that your home is in competitive condition.
- Market to the widest possible audience.
- Require any prospective Buyers to provide a pre-approval letter from a reputable lending institution. Do not sign any paper work taking your home
off the market with out this important element.
- Seek professional advice before signing an agreement. There are often several contingencies to consider.
Remember this good advice: If you want something done…give the job to a busy person. If you are going to hire a professional…interview three Realtors and make us one of them.
Let us show you what we can do for you.
